To remove the camshaft, you must first drain the engine coolant and take off the valve covers and timing belt. Now, you should disconnect nuts from both ends of these bars, then ensure that they don't move. One should remove rocker arms and shafts, then check the camshaft endplay. If one is working on the front cylinder head, he/she has to take out a battery, battery tray, upper radiator hose, and EGR valve. For the rear one will have to detach the EVAP purge joint bracket. This will be followed by removing the cam retainer plate and with care slide the shaft out. Before doing it replace oil seal after checking this component carefully. Then clean it up, lubricate it, and put in back bringing a retainer plate along with it. Finally, assemble other parts together; adjust valves if there is a need to do so and make a test run of an engine to see if there are any leaks.

Be aware of potential tappet noise, which may indicate issues with the assemblies if it persists.

Inspect the camshaft endplay and overall condition, measuring journal diameters and lobe heights, and looking for signs of wear or damage.
