Honda Del Sol Clutch Fork

Honda Del Sol Clutch Fork allows the engine to uncouple from the transmission very quickly so that drivers do not have to grind when shifting. In all Del Sol with stick, the Clutch Fork turns like a seesaw pushing the release bearing in the pressure plate when the pedal is going down and releasing the disc. Lifting the pedal allows the Clutch Fork to go back, the plate grips again and power flows. Throughout Del Sol production, a factory Honda stamped steel single-arm served, avoiding confusing variations but remaining vulnerable to bent arms or worn pivot pads. If gear changes become stiff or noisy, it is often by checking this Honda part for cracks, straightness and smooth motion that trouble is spotted early. Light grease on the Clutch Fork pivot makes for easy movement and a warped Clutch Fork should be replaced to maintain Honda feel for lasting daily Del Sol fun.

Honda Del Sol Clutch Fork Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a Clutch Disc, Clutch Fork, Pressure Plate and Release Bearing on Honda Del Sol?
    A:
Access to the clutch components is normally accomplished by removing the transaxle, leaving the engine in the vehicle. To support the clutch disc during removal, install a clutch alignment tool through the clutch disc hub. Carefully inspect the flywheel and pressure plate for indexing marks and turn each bolt a little at a time to loosen the pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts. Inspect the flywheel for cracks, heat checking, grooves and other obvious defects, and the lining on the clutch disc for loose rivets, distortion, cracks, broken springs and other obvious damage. Clean the flywheel and pressure plate machined surfaces with brake cleaner, lacquer thinner or acetone, position the clutch disc and pressure plate against the flywheel with the clutch held in place with an alignment tool, center the clutch disc, and tighten the pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts. Lubricate the inner groove of the release bearing, install the clutch release bearing, and install the transaxle and all components removed previously.
