- Q: How do you remove and install the steering gear on Honda Del Sol?A:To do this, follow the following procedures; This must be done from under the dash, remove the steering joint cover. Identify position of the intermediate shaft universal joint to the Rack And Pinion input shaft and then you remove the pinch bolt. Lift the front of the vehicle and use jackstand to support the vehicle, set the parking brake and turn on the steering wheel lock with the key and do not allow the steering wheel to turn so as not to damage the SRS coil. Subsequently, take out the shift rods or the shift control cable in the transaxle inadmissible and then the catalytic converter. Under the Rack And Pinion, install a drain pan and remove the power steering fluid pressure lines by removing the fittings, disconnected the lines and stop them at their ends or plug them to avoid leaks and contaminants get into the new component.
