The Honda Del Sol Alternator helps the sporty two-seater stay alive by producing electricity to recharge the battery and power every light, stereo, and control on the vehicle when the engine is running. Housed in a two-piece aluminum shell, the Alternator rotates a belt-driven rotor within a set of fixed stator windings, generating AC which is converted to constant DC by its diodes. Early Del Sol models applied an internal regulator located in the rear housing while later Del Sol versions allow the Powertrain Control Module to adjust field current in such a way that the Alternator produces a stable 13 to 15 volts. Each Alternator also carries a front pulley and cooling fan on the shaft as well as rear brushes, rectifier, bearings, and heat sinks that shed warmth. Throughout its production years, Honda maintained virtually unchanged the Alternator blueprint. No radically different sizes emerged across the Del Sol line, so it is the upgrade of the regulator that stands out as the main change, and it is this original Honda design that keeps the Alternator running reliably mile after mile with Honda electrical components always in great life.

Loosen the alternator adjusting bolt and pivot bolt, then detach the drivebelt by loosening the adjustment bolt located at the bottom of the alternator.
