- Q: How to remove the intake manifold on 2.4L engine on Honda CR-V?A:To remove the intake manifold from a 2015 or later CR-V model, first relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the engine cover bolts, pull the cover off the ballstuds, and disconnect the breather hose from the valve cover and intake manifold. Next, remove the intake duct and air filter housing, then unbolt the throttle body from the intake manifold without disconnecting the coolant hoses. For Civic and 2014 and earlier CR-V models, disconnect the vacuum hoses from the intake manifold, marking each hose for correct reassembly, and disconnect the IAC valve, TPS, knock sensor, and any other electrical connectors. Disconnect the purge solenoid vacuum hose and the EVAP purge solenoid, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands to remove the under-vehicle splash shield. Remove the intake manifold bracket from below the manifold, then take out the mounting bolts/nuts and pull the manifold back to disconnect the PCV hose. Lift the intake manifold from the engine compartment. For 2015 and later CR-V models, disconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail, the brake booster vacuum hose, and the PCV hose from the intake manifold, releasing the fuel line clips to remove the fuel line. Again, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands to remove the under-vehicle splash shield, then remove the intake manifold support bracket and its mounting bolts/nuts before lifting the manifold from the engine compartment. For installation, clean all traces of old gasket material, install a new gasket, and then install the manifold and mounting fasteners, tightening them to the specified torque starting with the center bolts. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of removal, and finally, reconnect the battery and run the engine to check for oil, coolant, and vacuum leaks.

Remove the screws that hold the electrical connectors at the fuel injectors and label all the connectors, and take off the fuel rails from the lower intake manifold. The two lower intake manifold sections bolt to the cylinder heads, so remove them carefully so as not to scratch the two surfaces that come into contact with the gasket. Scrape off the remnants of the gasket and clean the joints on both the surfaces. New gaskets must be put in, the lower manifolds put on the cylinder heads and aligned over the dowels before nuts and bolts are tightened. Three cycles of equal quarter turns followed by a further tightening of the fasteners to the torque. Lastly fit the upper intake manifold, and finish up by topping the cooling system and starting the engine, to confirm any fuel, vacuum and coolant leaks.
